The Price of RAM is Going Up, Up, Up…
Members of the PC building and hardware communities are not strangers to stark price increases and supply shortages of computer parts. The most frustrating and notable case of this in the past few years has been GPU shortages due to demand from crypto miners; Nvidia even going as far to throttle their own GPU’s ability to mine Ethereum.
Now we’re experiencing another notable price increase: RAM.
This price increase is being attributed to a 7.9% increase in laptop manufacturing. If you just Google search “ram price increase”, you’ll find a bunch of articles in the last couple of days talking about this.
The goal of this article is simply to show you examples of the price increase over the past 6–9 months to support these claims.
